Improve access to health for men & boys and decrease vulnerability

Men’s low utilisation reflects a combination of cross-cutting factors all of which need to be addressed in order to improve male engagement in the health sector in general and HIV services in particular. These include:

  • Ensure required social, economic, legal and policy structures in place
  • Transform gender norms to improve gender equality and reduce gender based violence (GBV)
  • Improve availability, accessibility and quality of health services for men and boys
  • Increase demand for, and utilisation of, health services among men and boys
